Fat Clinics Set Up To Tackle Overweight Pets

According to the recent survey it was found that pet owners are the main cause of pet obesity. Before solving the problem of human obesity pet obesity have propped up. //According to a recent report it is said that obese animals could cause as much suffering as those that are starved. Four out of five vets said they were seeing more overweight and obese animals every other day.

The survey consulted about 143 practioner about the number of obese pets that visited their clinics. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) warned that obese pets posses serious risk factors such as arthritis, high blood pressure, poor liver function and diabetes. Fat clinics have been set up by more than three quarters of vets.

Inspectors saw several cases last year where animals including dogs, horses, a donkey and even a parrot suffered from being overweight. In another separate survey of 2,300 pet owners in England and Wales by (RSPCA) suggests that 1 in 3 owners believe their pet is overweight. RSPCA vet David Grant said that if a pet is slightly above its optimum body weight, then it is a sure sign of the beginning of various health problems.
