Fast Food Heavy Weights Act Fast To Bell The Fat Out!

The fast food industry which has been simmering in the trans-fat controversy for quite a while, has decided to turn the tables on their sticky ally- the hydrogenated// vegetable oils! This is perhaps the last nail in the coffin!

KFC, Marks & Spencer, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco have already communicated their intention of banishing trans fats from their product categories. The British Medical Journal has urged the Government to bring in a law that would entail manufacturers to follow strict norms and safety standards while dishing out food products.

Earlier research has always painted trans fat, black. Further, the ongoing research by the Harvard School of Public Health has made no bones about the contribution of trans fat in the escalation of heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Infact, Denmark has already banned trans fats for commercial use. New York and Chicago are on the threshold of disallowing the use of trans fats in hotels and restaurants.

Meanwhile, as food brands are busy chewing the cud and mulling over sticky facts, consumers will do good to absorb the fact that, the once known ‘fast’ food or ‘junk’ food, may just be a healthy bite after all!
