Familial Breast cancer without gene mutation not found to cause ovarian cancer.

Researchers from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York has reported that Women with a strong family history of Breast cancer with out BRCA1 and BRCA2 breast cancer gene mutation do not have an increased risk of // developing ovarian cancer. The study was conducted in 200 families with a history of hereditary breast cancer and the reports submitted in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Breast cancer is the Second leading cancer in women and incidence of breast cancer is more in urban population and breast cancer occurrence influenced by family history of breast cancer, smoking, late first child birth and menopausal status. Ovarian cancer is also the leading cause of gynecological cancer deaths.

Women should be aware of the risk of cancer and should do early assessment for cancer detection, apart from BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes other genes may also pose a risk for cancer development. Early breast cancer can be detected by mammograms, but detection of early ovarian cancer is still so efficiently developed, so for detection women should do pelvic examination every year and consult doctor and annual medical examinations is required for early detection of cancers.
