Experts From India, US To Discuss On Bioethics In Research

With the focus on the need to adopt ethical principles and practices in clinical research , experts from India and the United States will meet //here for three days begining Tuesday to discuss the issues of bioethics in research in the field.

The workshop, which will provide special training to 100 trainees from across the country, will use an interactive approach through case studies to update clinical researchers on the ethics requirements by Indian and international research and regulator agencies, a US Embassy statement said here today.

"Research on human volunteers to evaluate and eventually licence products for prevention, treatment or management of disease has become an area of intense interest in India and around the world.

This event is part of a series of workshops on clinical research and clinical trials that will be jointly conducted in India over the next three years," it said.

The Indian Council of Medical Research, the Drug Controller General of India, Ministry of health and Family Welfare, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology and the US Department of Health and Human Services are jointly organising this workshop.
