Expanding waistlines has been a burgeoning healthcare problem, which has tickled the curiosity of researchers. To add to the growing obesity rates, is also the increasing// numbers of myths doing the rounds. To dispel the myths, extensive research on the subject of obesity has been conducted from time to time.

A government study conducted in Britain has painted a dismal scenario of obesity rates by 2010, where one in five girls between the ages of 2 and 10, could be battling obesity. Adult men will not be spared, research says.

The Canadian Medical Association revealed their research findings, showing that nine per cent of Canadian parents did not have a very good opinion about their children’s weight- supporting the figures by Stats Canada, that 26 per cent of children are obese or overweight.

The problems of obesity hover around a simple yet elusive truth. We don’t have a true account of what we take in, but tend to overestimate the calories burnt through exercise. A simple calculation is all it needs - balancing the intake of calories and calorie utilization, is the clue to warding of obesity. Words of wisdom, indeed!
