Evading sports injuries

According to researchers, at the Mayo Clinic, the rate sports injury among older Americans is rising. Henceforth, one has to advise you on how to avoid getting hurt when you exercise. The Consumer Product Safety Commission did a survey that revealed how sports injuries// went up by 50 per cent among those aged 60. Most injuries were due to inflammation and wear and tear aggravated by overuse. Biking, skiing, tennis and skating were the highest-risk activities.

To stay safe, always remember to warm up and cool down before and after your exercise session. You also need to pace yourself - the goal is 30 minutes or more a day of moderate exercise. Using the right equipment is essential too - a helmet when riding a bike, for instance, to avoid head injury. If you need to, do take lessons - being aware of the correct technique and form will help protect you from injury.
