In a study done by Spanish researchers of Mostoles General Hospital Madrid, had pointed out that the condition of// essential tremor can be responsible for increased risk of dementia.

Essential tremor is a neurological condition that leads to a kind of movement disorder. Involuntary movements of the muscle produce the tremor of the hands, head, neck, face etc. It affects few people after age of 40 and most people after the age of 60.

The researchers have observed 202 people with essential tremor and 3541 people with no dementia or movement disorders for a period of three years. 7.4 percent of the people with essential tremors developed dementia in comparison with 3.5% of the people who did not have essential tremors. The study had said that the risk of developing dementia for people in the age group of 60 or more is double that of the others when they suffer from the condition of essential tremor.

Dementia is the condition of having impaired intellectual ability. Dementia affects mostly the people in the age group of 65 yrs and above.
