Enlarged Prostate Might Be Relieved with Botox injections

A new study has highlighted the benefits of Botox injections given into the prostate that is capable of bringing relief from suffering, for men with enlarged prostate//.

Researcher Dr. Michael B. Chancellor, a professor of urology and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, said “Our results are encouraging because they indicate that Botox could represent a simple, safe and effective treatment for enlarged prostate."

The study involved 41 men, who were in the age range of 49 to 79, and who suffered enlarged prostate and who were not getting better with the usual treatment for this ailment.

After the patients were injected with Botox injections directly into their prostate, nearly 31 patients expressed a 30 percent improvement in the previous symptoms. This obviously improved their quality of life which also lasted up to a year after the injections. Nearly 80% of the patients were able to drain their bladders fully, from the period of a week to one month from the time they received the injection. There were no important side-effects reported.
