Effects Of Certain Food Related To Single Pain Receptors

According to studies done at the Yale school of medicine, and released this week says that the effect or “Kick” we get when we eat certain foodstuffs//, like garlic, mustard oil, from a green sushi condiment called Wasabi’s. The sensory receptor they ay also underlines the reaction of the body to various irritants and pollutants in the environment, like tobacco, vehicle exhaust and byproducts of certain chemo receptor drugs used for treatment of cancer, arthritis etc.

The researchers say that they have identified the new receptor (TRPAI) to help in developing new medications for pain and also for treating diseases caused by environmental pollutants. They carried out their research on mice and found that those lacking in them were not affected by the foodstuff and pollutants while those having them were well affected. They also found that the mice lacking in the new receptors had a normal sense to extreme colds, or loud noises, this has led them to believe that the new receptor is n important target of bradykinin, one of the body's natural inflammatory agents, that stimulates neurons of pain sense and leads to hypersensitivity to heat and touch.

They are hoping this would lead to a new break through for pain management, as pain therapy is one of the biggest challenge in modern medicine and finding and developing new pain medications is urgently needed to fill the therapeutic gaps and to treat additional forms of pain
