Eat healthy fat

According to Nutrition experts, some new ways of getting the most healthful fats into your diet. We already know that omega-6 fatty acids are associated with chronic diseases, while their neighbours, the omega-3s, are more healthy. A regular daily diet naturally// includes some of each.

The American Heart Association says you should get your omega-3s from fish like sardines, salmon and tuna. Researchers at Texas University now also suggest trying eggs enriched with omega-3s. They are also looking at the effect of feeding omega-3-rich algae to cattle. This is producing dairy products high in the fatty acids which may be beneficial to health. Meanwhile, the team suggests limiting your oil intake to canola, olive and flaxseed.

For meat eaters, the research team suggests that grass-fed beef seems to have a better ratio of omega-3 fatty acids, compared to the omega-6 class. Note this isn't always the same as organic meat - which sometimes comes from animals fed from grain.
