Early HRT Can Protect Women Against Heart Diseases

Even as a controversy rages over safety with regard to the hormone replacement therapy (HRT), another research has put forward the theory that it may protect women from diseases related to the heart. //The risk of a coronary heart disease is lowered by 30% in the case of women who start with the HRT at an younger age, when in comparison to women who do not use hormones.

There are no cardiovascular benefits to be seen in the case of women who start the treatment after having crossed 60 years. The age at which hormone therapy is administered may be an important factor in determining whether they contribute towards protecting the heart from the disease. Those who had started HRT while reaching the menopause stage ran lesser risks of contracting heart diseases, when compared to those women who did not. The hormone replacement also did not result in any protective effect in the case of women who started off on HRT after crossing the age of 60 years.

The risk of stroke or heart diseases is also lower among recently menopausal women. Where some women are concerned, arteriosclerosis may be delayed by Estrogen. The risk concerning heart diseases can also be lowered by reducing the risk factors which lead to it. Life style has an important role to play in this. Earlier reports had contended that the use of hormones increased the risk of heart attacks, resulting in many women giving up hormone therapy.
