Dubai to commence free breast cancer screening

Dubai: With a motive of enabling women the best possible avenues to maintain good health, the UAE is about to commence a free breast cancer screening// in Dubai, scheduled to begin next month.

The tests will enable all women in the emirate, UAE nationals, expatriates and visitors, to avail timely screening to detect early signs of breast cancer, which is absolutely essential to achieve better treatment outcomes.

Dr Hajer Al Hosani, Director of the Maternal and Child Health Department under the Ministry of Health in Abu Dhabi said” Our programme is free of charge and it's for everybody and any nationality. You don't even require a health card .Every female has the right to be examined ... and the solution is to detect early and offer the right treatment."

The Preventative National Screening Programme expects to screen nearly 46000 women annually. According to data between 1998 and 2002, nearly 1000 women in the UAE were in the grips of this disease.
