Drinking Real Juice Doesnt Cause Obesity In Children

Children who drink juice do not face the risk of obesity, say scientists. Researcher Victor Fulgoni, examined about the effects of the juice in children’s diet and body mass index (BMI) on children of various ages and had come to this conclusion. //

According to foodconsumer.org, he found that juice consumers have significantly lower z-scores for body mass index for their age and that children aged 12-18 years had significantly lower BMIs than those who drank no juice at all.

"These findings are consistent with many other research studies that have found no association between consumption of 100 percent juice and obesity," Fulgoni said.

The government data analysis also showed that children who drank 100 percent juice had a total fruit intake that was three times higher than non-juice consumers.

Fulgoni's research was presented to the Experimental Biology 2006 meeting attended by 12,000 independent scientists.
