Doctors needed urgently in Gujarat

The quake-devastated state of Gujarat in India is now slowly coming to terms with the full fallout of the calamity. While different news channels and papers are busy increasing the death toll by the thousand in every other bulletin, the state government and the central government are now faced with the unenviable task of clearing the problems at hand- the hospitals are crammed with patients and doctors are desperately needed in most of the quake affected towns.

As India rallies round to help the victims, local authorities are quick to point out that help is literally pouring in. Medindia.net spoke to Dr. Ashok G Patel, at Ahmedabad Medical Association for the latest update on the situation.

Dr.Patel says there is an urgent need for orthopedic surgeons and general surgeons for the quake affected regions of Gujarat. He is quick to point out that medicines are available aplenty but there is a dearth of doctors at the site. Doctors volunteering to help are requested to bring with them the instruments they might need in their treatment. All doctors volunteering to help are asked to contact these numbers
