The doctors attending on Dalbir Kaur, a sister of Indian national Sarabjit Singh who is facing death penalty in Pakistan, have said today that she is out of danger,// and her condition is stable.

Ms Kaur had on the day before attempted suicide attempt in a town in Punjab. Sources reported that she was then rushed to a private hospital in the town of Bhikhiwind, which was around 50 kms from Amritsar, after she had presumably consumed something.

Dalbir was rushed to a private hospital in Bhikhiwind town, 50 km from here, Thursday evening after she 'consumed something'. Her condition is stable, said doctors.

Tarn Taran police chief Praveen Sahni told reporters that the police would register a case of attempt to suicide against Dalbir only if tests show that the substance she consumed was poisonous.

The police have taken samples of the substance consumed by her and sent them to a government laboratory in Patiala. Doctors attending on her said that she seemed to have swallowed some sedatives and not any poisonous substance.

Her family members said that Dalbir was under depression for the last week after receiving a letter from Sarabjit from Lahore's Kot Lakhpat prison saying that he was being ill treated by Pakistani officials and was not able to get medical treatment.

Sukhpreet Kaur, the wife of Sarabjit Singh, who lives in Bhikhiwind and has been at loggerheads with Dalbir over the way the latter was running the 'Save Sarabjit campaign' and collecting millions of rupees, alleged that the suicide attempt was a 'drama' enacted by Dalbir to get more attention.

Dalbir's neighbours, who broke her room door to take her to hospital Thursday, said that Dalbir had called a few media persons before locking herself in her room and consuming the tablets.
