Diwali lights put Dengue in the dark

The state of Dengue in the capital has neither improved nor deteriorated. There are 89 new cases, 2 deaths and over 1800 still hospitalized.

For over a week, the number of dengue cases at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) // has been about 175. The number of viral fever cases is also decreasing; however, the doctors cautioned that this might not be the end of it.

"The cases have come down but the outbreak isn't over," said Medical Superintendent at AIIMS, D K Sharma. The Union Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav paid RJD MP Shahabuddin a visit at the AIIMS. Shahabuddin had undergone a spinal operation.

Laloo, as usual, came out with his own idea to tackle the problem! "Stay alert, and squash the mosquito when you see it!" suggested Laloo.

Delhi has some hope in spite of the number of cases still being on the rise. "Delhi received some rains today, so it's good because the mosquito needs high temperatures," said Sharma. Delhiites hope that after Diwali, which marks the change of season, there will be a decrease in the number of cases.

With Diwali around the corner, Delhiites will be hoping the change of season, which the festival marks, will bring down the number of cases. The Aedes mosquito needs temperature higher than 22 degrees for survival.
