Diet and exercise can be a better option to control diabetes

In a study published in the recent issue of Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers have strongly recommended diet and exercise //as preconditions to prevent and control diabetes type 2. Their computer-stimulated findings suggest that it may be cost effective to control diabetes through rigorous exercise and good diet than using medication.

Type 2 diabetes reduces the body’s ability to store calories, resulting in high blood sugar count in the blood. The signs of such a kind of diabetes may remain dormant in adults for many years before the actual symptoms arise. Such a health condition is called glucose intolerance or prediabetes. Diet and moderate exercise has been shown to prevent or delay the setting of diabetes type 2 in patients with prediabetes. However, the results were more predominant for nonsmokers than otherwise.

Caring for diabetes and its conditions are expensive. In a second study by the same researchers show that for adults below the age of 65, it will be cost effective to go for exercise and diet to control diabetes than medication. However the results of the second study were computer-aided and hence how far it may be true that remains to be seen.
