Dialysis Trust Set Up in Bangalore by End-stage Kidney Patients

Bangalore: Awareness about chronic kidney disease was conducted in 50 countries on World Kidney day under the aegis of the //International Society of Nephrologists and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations.

The main objective of the World Kidney Day is to emphasize to the masses the importance of kidneys and to disseminate the message that kidney ailments are common and serious but certainly capable of treatment.

Patients grappling with end-stage kidney disease have instituted the Dialysis Trust of Bangalore with the main idea of increasing awareness about kidney diseases. It is estimated that about 1.5 million people world over undergo dialysis.

The focus of Bangalore Dialysis Trust is to enhance the awareness of this disease and most importantly spread the information that kidney disease is manageable, if detected early. Additionally the trust will focus on cutting costs of dialysis, and treatment by negotiating with drug manufacturers and dealers. The trust would initiate training programmes for counselors and volunteers to assist patients in coping with the disease.
