Diagnostic Test Launched by Ranbaxy for En Masse Screening of Bird Flu

New Delhi: SRL Ranbaxy has introduced a diagnostic test for Bird Flu that will enable mass-screening, and has the capability to report near accurate results within 24 hours. Named as RT-PCR test, // this test boasts of being powerful where the results will be available in a day. Certainly a blessing in the event of an outbreak.

The tests that are presently available to check for Bird Flu report results only after two to ten days. Group Director, SRL Ranbaxy Ltd Janak Singh Bajwa said "India has not reported any case of 'bird flu' in humans or birds. But we must prepare ourselves if it arrives in India and be prepared to respond adequately if we are to contain the disease before it gets out of control,"

These tests are priced between Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,500 and will be available in 350 cities, at the respective Ranbaxy Centers.
