Delhi Launches Special Drive to Check Dengue Spread

Sounding a dengue alert in the capital, the MCD today said there was a rise in the breeding of mosquitoes responsible for the disease even as it launched //a special drive to check breeding of the vector.

A high index of dengue vector mosquito breeding, responsible for the spread of the dreaded fever, has been reported from various parts of the city especially in desert coolers, the Corporation said in a release.

The MCD has launched a special drive to check breeding of Aedes mosquito responsible for spread of the disease. As many as 803 people have been prosecuted so far and legal notices have been issued to 5417.

In the wake of rise in breeding of Aedes mosquito, the MCD has appealed to heads of government departments, autonomous bodies, educational institutions, owners and occupiers of commercial complexes, office-bearers of market and Residents Welfare Associations and citizens to take adequate steps to prevent mosquito breeding.
