Delhi Government To Interlink All Major Hospitals Through e-Governance

The Government of Delhi is planning to interlink its major 29 hospitals to share information about its patients and disease //condition and treatment provided. This computerization and interlinking of data would be helpful to citizen in providing better treatment by which doctors can know the case history and treatment provided to this patient. Government will develop 42 modules of software to deal with different hospital departments. From a patient's personal information to disease details to the number of doctors consulted so far, all can be traced through the information system.

Mr. Prakash Kumar, secretary of Delhi's IT and administrative reforms department said, 'Through computerization and then networking we are trying to interlink all the city hospitals under the Delhi government. The aim is to provide a citizen-centric single window information system and this integrated information system would definitely bring more efficiency to the hospitals and help in providing better health services without consuming the extra time of citizens.'

This procedure will reduce time and also will have lesser paper work and also would help in knowing the correct diagnosis and treatment offered to the patient, the project would come effective by April 2006. By April 2006, 10 modules, including the diagnosis report, outpatient department, medicines available, and the disease details of patients would be made available in six major hospitals and the 32 remaining modules would be made operational from September 2006 in the same six hospitals. After validation and quality checking of the operation in the 6 hospitals the software would be available to all the 23 hospitals by August 2007. The Centre for D
