Many dairy farmers, are perturbed because of the government’s move to buy lesser stock of dairy products from these farmers.//The government, intends to acquire more agricultural products in order to provide low income group families more veggies to balance their nutritional requirements.

The Department of Agriculture has decided to add vegetables, fruits and whole grains to the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program. To cover the expenses projected, they have decided to cut down on the ration of milk, and milk products, and eggs to the beneficiaries. The WIC has been faithfully providing food for over 50% of all babies born in the U.S.A.Food vouchers for purchases worth $35 are made available to low income group families every month.

Last year the U.S government had made certain amendments in the dietary guidelines. This required the addition of more fruits, vegetables and whole grains into the daily diet.

However, the dairy farmers are worried that the government’s policy to cut their revenue would mean that the women and children would suffer from deficient nutrition essential for their health. After reviewing public comments, The Agriculture Department, is expected to issue a final decision by next year.
