A set of cartoon films which had implanted human emotions to a train was helpful to autistic children to recognize human emotions//.

A study was conducted by Professor Simon Baron Cohen who is the director of Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University. This study was conducted among children in the age group of 4-8.

After watching this film for more than a month, there was a marked improvement in these children in recognizing emotions. They were able to understand happiness, sorrow, anger etc. It may have been observed that autistic children are fond of cars, trams and trains and Professor Simon chose train as its movement is very predictable and there are no surprise elements.

He observes that children affected by autism will not like to have eye contact with people as it confuses them a lot. When a movement is fixed on an expected path, it is easier for them to understand.

Professor Cohen is quick to point out that this is not a cure but is an educational benefit. Autism is a genetic disorder.
