Czech Republic struck by fifth bird flu incident

Another bird flu case has been detected in Czech republic by way of the dead swan found in the Bavorovice near Ceske Budejovice, south Bohemia, Josef Duben. This was brought to light by a spokesman for the State Veterinary //Administration. This is the fifth case of bird flu.

To make a confirmation and further examination a sample would also be sent to EU Reference Laboratory in Weybridge, Britain

When tests were performed on the first dead swan found in Hluboka nad Vltavou, south Bohemia, the pathogenic virus H5N1 was detected which is also dangerous to man.

While in the second swan found about four kilometres away form the first, the Czech National Reference Laboratory detected the presence of the most infectious H5 virus. Confirmation in the third swan that was again found in Hluboka was also made. The results of the Weybridge tests for the H5N1 stem have not yet been available. The virus type in the fourth swan is not yet known either. So one has to wait for the results of the latest finding that is the fifth swan and see which strain is present in this sample.
