Culprit of frequent infections in childhood and youth - Diabetes

There seems to be a link between the oft occurring infections in children and the onset of Type I diabetes//.

Medical records of more than 4000 patients, below the age of 29, with Type 1 diabetes were studied by British researchers .It was observed that those who had a number of childhood infections showed a 6 to 7 % tendency of developing Type 1 diabetes.

Simon O'Neill, director of care and policy at Diabetes UK, said "This research reinforces the idea that common infections and environmental factors also play a part.”
