Cosmetic plastic surgery for a youthful healthy look

Looking young and healthy is now much easier than earlier and according to James Wells, M.D., president, American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), many people, both men and women are seeing plastic surgeons as early as their 20s, contrary to the past, when patients would wait until they were 50 to visit a plastic surgeon to reduce the normal signs of aging. He also added that non-surgical treatments like chemical peels( which have increased 25%)// and collagen injections (which have increased 48%)have become more popular with women and men in their 20s, 30s and 40s. He said that while young patients opt for plastic surgery to remove acne scars or diminish wrinkles, people in their 30s and 40s may come with the intention of a brow or face lift.

Plastic surgeons are combining smaller procedures for quicker recovery and fewer risks. Facial contouring with chin and cheek implants, gentle liposuction done on the neck to eliminate sagging, and a chemical peel around the eyes to remove crow's-feet are some of the facial techniques being used to give patients a healthier look. Dr. Wells recommends a thorough and realistic discussion of the patient's desired outcome and review of treatment options with the plastic surgeon once the decision for cosmetic surgery is made. He also emphasized that eating a balanced diet and regular exercise are essential to looking and feeling young before and after plastic surgery.
