Cosmetic Surgeons Discuss Facelift Surgery

Cosmetic surgeons from India and Italy took part in a workshop to discuss the various surgical techniques to do facelift surgery.//

"India and the West have different approaches to cosmetic surgery. The medicine curriculum here focuses more on treating ailments like leprosy and burns than on aesthetic surgery," Anil Chadha, a cosmetic surgeon, told reporters during the first Indo-Italian workshop, Aesthetica 2006.

He added: "But of late, priorities have changed and more and more patients want to look young.

"For the first time in the country, an instructional course on 'thread lift' is being held, wherein aging face is rejuvenated without any cut. Special types of barbed threads are inserted under the facial skin in this surgery."

Cosmetic (aesthetic) surgery techniques for neck-lift, eyelid surgery, facelift and liposuction were demonstrated during the one-day workshop, organized by and at the Apollo Hospital here.

"In near future, these techniques will be applied not only to face but also other parts of the body," said Asit Shah, another cosmetic surgeon.

Italian expert Daniel Cassuto said: "One cannot stop the time. But through these techniques, one can delay aging for a particular time period."

Almost 100 cosmetic surgeons participated in this workshop.
