Copeman Healthcare May Face Government Fines

Copeman Healthcare of Canada has been warned of fines by the Government if it were to charge fees towards provincially insured health services. Copeman Healthcare intends to establish clinics in Ottawa, Toronto, and // London, and it has announced that it will be charging a joining fee of $1,200, and another $2,300 towards annual fees from the patients it treats.

The medicare law of the state says a fine of up to $25,000 can be levied for every incident wherein charges are made for health services which are provincially insured. The warning has been issued by the Health Minister on 2 February 2006. The Vancouver clinic of the organization is already reported to be violating the Canada Health Act through its large admission fee.

The healthcare firm has been given time until end February 2006 to comply with the rules of the Government. Only those services which are not provided for by the state can be charged. The fee structure of the clinic has reportedly been changed to avoid complications with the provincial and federal laws. These changes need to be further reviewed by the Government.
