The growing bird flu problem is now to be shared between India and China. The world's fastest growing economies, have decided to sit down and discuss how to tackle the // problem of this latest threat.

Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar and Chinese agriculture minister Du Qinglin met and discussed management of avian influenza in New Delhi.

The statement released said, "It was agreed that exchange of information and technical cooperation between India and China will play an important role in containing possible epidemics."

Officials of the two countries have agreed to share their experiences. "They have had many more episodes than us and say their methods have been effective in controlling spread," said an official.

"We can see whether we need any course correction," the official added.

The bird flu problem is about feed, exports, drugs, transportation and not just about birds, chicken and egg. So far there have been deaths reported from the disease in many countries including China.

Both the countries have had huge losses of almost Rs 7,000 crores. The daily loss is estimated at Rs 200 crores a day.
