The government of china in Beijing told the press that it has taken all possible measures to reduce the ever increasing number of HIV/AIDS infection in China. //

It said that it is going to double the funds in the next two years allocated to keep in check the number of HIV positive people below 1.5 million by 2010.

The money spent on this would be around $US 370.

China was initially very slow against the battle of AIDS/HIV but has now caught up with the world.

But still the numbers of people suffering from the disease are on the rise. It has to increase the awareness among people and completely eradicate the fear instilled in the public about the disease.

All this will help reducing the rate of preventing and spreading the disease.

The awareness among people who are educated is also very low. About 60% of the educated people are still scared to go near or have a conversation with a HIV/AIDS infected person.

Statistics reveal that China has 840,000 HIV carriers, but experts in the health field don’t agree with this number.

Over 80% of the HIV/AIDS patients are within the age group of 20-39 years old. On the other hand they fear that the number would have crossed a million by now in the province of Henan.

The main reason being this province was involved in the botched blood-selling scheme during the mid 1990s.

The government is taking all possible steps to keep the number under control. It is also aiming to keep the number of affected HIV/AIDS patients within the limits mentioned by the World Health Organization (WHO).

WHO has mentioned that the number of HIV/AIDS sufferers should remain within the limit of 10 million even if nothing is done to prevent the spread of disease.
