Child Sans Husband: Dream Come True For Spinster Women in UK

The Camden primary care trust in London has decided to offer free fertility treatment to unmarried women who wish to have children. The proposal for the free pilot scheme has been initiated just in time,// before the International Women’s Day that falls on March 8th.

Although many fell that the move would destabilize traditional family values, those in want of such services fell that it could mean the ultimate in women liberation. There has been an increasing demand for motherhood, from single women, mostly in their 30 and 40s.

This trend is believed to have sparked the latest National Health Service plan. Looks like these days women find it hard to find their ideal man. A majority of women, who are interested in availing fertility services have had troubled relationships or have had partners unwilling to take up parental responsibility.

This new health plan on one side, concerns do persist regarding the growth (both physical and mental) of children born to spinster mothers. Numerous studies have established that children brought up by a single parent and those left to suffer the impact of broken marriages face significant development problems than those who grow in a family atmosphere.

Recently, controversial data has been obtained regarding the above issue, with a latest report in the Independent stating that babies born through donor insemination to single mothers prosper just as well as those in two-parent families. Yet another study by Family and Child Psychology Research Centre (City University in London) has established that single mothers coped equally when compared to those supported by a boyfriend or husband.
