Chicken Pox Fears Cause Captain To Force Baby From Flight

Chris and Caroline Snaith, a couple travelling on a My Travel flight to Newcastle last month were forced to leave their 10-month-old baby son in Tenerife after the captain// of the plane refused to take the baby onboard since he had a spot on his head. The captain thought it was chicken pox.

The boy was left with his grandparents since his mom had an interview to attend. My Travel's agent, Direct Holidays, said that the captain followed the rules. "The airport doctor was unable to confirm the child was not suffering from chickenpox and did not issue a Fit to Fly certificate," a spokesman said. "Given the contagious nature of this illness, the captain took the necessary measures to ensure the health and well-being of the majority of his passengers."

Mr and Mrs Snaith insisted that the baby had been checked by a doctor before they boarded the flight. "She (Caroline) sobbed her eyes out on the plane, she was so upset. She felt so guilty about leaving her baby behind," said the boy's grandmother.

Layton's grandparents took the boy to a doctor and had to pay £130 for a certificate. They returned the next day. The grandparents want Direct Holidays to apologize.
