Chicago: Dad, I need you desperately, Please come back

Ana Esparza' suffered a liver failure in 2001. Her mother was an illegal alien without any health insurance, so the local hospitals denied this poor girl the transplant, she so desperately needed. Later the immigrant community rose to the occasion and bailed her out.//

The girl underwent a successful liver transplant later that year in Miami, Florida, but the organ’s condition deteriorated late last year, according to report from her mother and the doctors attending on her. "She is in really bad shape," her mother, Maria Munoz, said. "She is on the machine; the infection is getting worse." The mother and her daughter are both at Children's Memorial Hospital since December last; the very same hospital that had refused to perform the transplant.

According to Maria Munoz, the hospital is willing to pay for a transplant, but they have had a problem of finding a matching donor. Chris James, a hospital spokesman, communicated that the girl is presently in the intensive care and is too ill to undergo a transplant. Mexican Consulate officials have sent out a message seeking assistance in finding, Juan Esparza, the girl’s father, who had deserted the family after an apparent estrangement with the sick girl. The consulate is also willing to pay for his expenses to get him to Chicago, in order to check if he has an organ match.
