Professor Mercedes R. Carnethon and colleagues, Feinberg School of Medicine have reported in Journal of American Medical Association that physical inactivity and obesity // reduces the cardio-respiratory fitness leading to increase in total cholesterol and blood pressure levels leading to increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The researchers conducted their survey in U.S. population in two age groups of above 50 years and below 50 years of age and found the correlation of low fitness and risk of cardiovascular diseases. The study found that more than 16 million adults have low fitness and have increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. The study results show that decrease in physical activity as lead to an increase level of low fitness, which is a main risk for development of cardiovascular diseases.
