Cancer Therapy from Early Stage

Bowel cancer is one of the cancers that results in death among the Britons. This is because until now chemotherapy treatments Eloxitan and a tablet// called Xeloda have only been given to NHS patients in advanced cases. But now the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidance recommending that both treatments should be given to patients who had cancerous tissue removed at an early stage. Hence the Ulster charity chief asked the health officials to provide the same treatment for bowel cancer patients as those provided in the rest of the UK.

Because the accessibility of the treatment plays a vital role in combating the cancer. Arlene Spiers, Chief Executive, Ulster Cancer Foundation, said that a lot of people are very happy on hearing the news as now bowel cancer can be cured in the early stage. The powerful and the potentially life-saving drug would be a blessing for those suffering from bowel cancer. But the sad news is that the NICE guidelines are not yet made mandatory in Northern Ireland. But the announcement by NICE would help all the others and thereby speed up various treatments aimed against bowel cancer.
