Canadians on a Very High Fat Diet

According to a survey done by the Canadian Institute of Medicine it was found that fat formed more that 31% of the Canadian’s daily calories//.

They lack a balanced diet which in turn results in various ill effects. About 25% of those aged 31 to 50 derived their daily calories from fat which is the main cause of various health risks.

The survey interviewed more than 35,000 people and questioned them about their food habits.

Statistics Canada released a report which said that 15.9 % of the fat could be contributed to sandwiches which includes pizza, submarine and other sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs.

About 8.5% of calorie is contributed by sweets such as cookies and doughnuts.

The survey also said that lower income people ate poorer diets and fat intake rose with income.

The report author Didier Garriquet also said that adults with higher incomes ate more fruits and vegetables but it was not enough.
