Canadians flocking to India for quick and efficient medical treatment

Toronto: Canadians are rushing to India and other Asian countries to get top medical attention at reasonable costs and avoid waiting//.

According to a recent report, Canada is highly short of doctors and specialists, forcing patients to wait for three years for procedures such as knee replacement and hip resurfacing. Patients who suffered in silence so far are now turning to the World Wide Web to find medical help in India, where they are assured of speedy-and inexpensive treatment for their maladies.

Businesses in major Canadian cities are making a quick buck arranging trips for ailing Canadians seeking medical help abroad. In addition to speedy medical help, the patients are also assured of recuperation at luxurious locations- combining health with pleasure.

Hospitals like Apollo are a favored destination for most ailing Canadians. The hospital has an international patient program on its website that includes travel arrangement, airport pick-ups, translators and international food.

Even for dental care, Canadians are looking to India for treatment. Most insurance companies cover 80 per cent of the dental treatment costs. With simple procedures such as extractions and root canal treatments costing anywhere between Canadian $1000 to 1500, a visit to the dentist is a nightmare for those not covered by a dental plan in their insurance. A return ticket to India costs about the same, making it highly viable for patients to combine dental care with a holiday in the east.
