This hospital prides in being the first public hospital to be entirely financed and maintained by the private sector. The $132 million, 400,000-square-foot hospital can accommodate upto 188 in-patients requiring psychiatric care replaces the previous Royal Ottawa Hospital which was almost 100 years old.

The government of Ontario has been commended for bringing this mammoth project to completion and also for their commitment to the families of people in Eastern Ontario who need mental health care. The entire hospital is designed with wireless information technology the first of its kind across Canada would be a break through in delivering the very best of health care right upto the bed side of the patients.
