Campbell Decides To Boost Publicity about Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in UK. Symptoms include a frequent need to urinate, especially at night and a need to rush to the loo//.

Hence DUP MP Gregory Campbell has decided to conduct a campaign to increase awareness about prostate cancer. Prostate cancer kills 220 men in Northern Ireland and 10,000 a year throughout the UK.

Mr Campbell has won the support of 55 MPs and in association with the Prostate Cancer Charity planned to launch an Awareness Week. According to a National Audit Office many prostate cancer patients are unhappy with the range of treatment available. Last week research suggested that red chillies contained an ingredient capsaicin which can kill cancer cells.

Guy's Hospital in London was opening the UK's most comprehensive prostate cancer treatment centre. Treatments available include keyhole and robotic surgery, brachytherapy and high intensity ultra-sound.

A survey for Prostate Cancer Charity found that ignorance and neglect are the biggest enemies when fighting cancer. It was found that 25% of the men aged 55 do not realize their risk of prostate cancer. One in five is not aware that the family history plays an important role in developing prostate cancer. One in eight does not know that high fat refined diet could be a factor. One of the most important risks is the increasing age.
