CWD Has Already Caused 837 Wild Deer Deaths

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is widespread in Alberta. Acadia Valley is the province which is about 260 km east of Calgary in which about 837 wild deer have been culled to prevent the spread of the disease. //

The people are pledging the government to take necessary steps to stop the spread of the disease.

Along the Saskatchewan border four new cases were detected among the culled deer.

Totally about eight CWD cases have been confirmed in Alberta since September.

Sustainable Resources Minister David Coutts said that all is being done to combat the disease.

It is considered as a serious environmental and economic threat.

He has also promised to modify and enhance the management programs and keep the system updated as and when new information about the disease is made available.
