Britishers Take to Drinking to De-stress

According to a latest survey, many Britishers are resorting to drinking to get rid off their stress. Sleeplessness and lack of sexual life were the main reasons// attributed to stress.

This survey was conducted among two thousand respondents in the age group of sixteen and above. Fifty one percent of them revealed that money is the primary cause of stress while thirty eight percent felt it was work which was stressing them a lot.

On a comparative note, 2003 witnessed 23% of people resorting to drinking to de-stress while in 2006, the percentage is increased to 32. In 2003, 15% did nothing about their stress but in 2006 it is 29%.

On a gender level, 39% men drank when they are stressed while it is 29% for the women side. The age group of 25-34 seemed to be more vulnerable to drinking.

Majority of the population felt highly irritable while they are stressed. This has been the cause for fiction between partners. One fifth of the population felt that their sex life was affected due to stress. They also felt that they were less stressed five years back.

According to this survey people should learn to handle their stress in a better way. They should look for appropriate means to combat stress like talking to a friend or a relative or listening to music or going for a drive or a stroll. They need to talk and find remedial measures rather than resorting to alcohol.
