British Psychiatrist At 62 Becomes The Countries Oldest Mother

A 62-year-old child psychiatrist has become Britain’s oldest mother after undergoing IVF treatment//.

It was reported that Patti Farrant, professionally known as Patricia Rashbrook, gave birth to a boy, weighing about 3 kg, was born at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, by caesarean on Wednesday. It was reported that she is already a mother to three grown-up children from a previous marriage, had considered In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) so as to satisfy her 61-year-old husband John Farrant wish of becoming a father.

The couple, when informed about the confirmation of pregnancy earlier said, “We are very happy to have given life to an already much-loved baby, and our wish now is to give him the peace and security he needs. We take our responsibility very seriously and regard the best interests of the child as paramount.”

Dr Patricia Rashbrook gave birth to the baby, who is nicknamed ‘JJ’ after a successful vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment that was conducted overseas using a donated egg. Dr Rashbrook said, “He is adorable and seeing him for the first time was beyond words.” She and her husband, John, had consulted the controversial Italian doctor Severino Antinori at Rome after having been refused treatment in the UK. Most of the fertility clinics in Britain do not provide IVF treatment for women who are past their normal age for childbirth.

Arranging for her to receive donor eggs in a suburb of Moscow, Dr Antinori said he treated Dr Rashbrook after medical checks and only considered couples with at least 20 years of life expectancy. By the time JJ has left school, his parents will be in their eighties.
