Brainteaser Sudoku Games On Mobile Phones

New Delhi: Sudoku, the new-age avatar of the ubiquitous crossword puzzles, is all set to conquer Indian mobile phones.

"Starting next week, Airtel will introduce this popular puzzle to its subscribers on their handsets. // The application will be the first to be available on any mobile phone in India," said an official of Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited (BTVL), one of India's leading providers for telecom services.

"To download the popular Japanese logic puzzle, an Airtel customer can log on to the Airtel Live WAP portal and click on the Sudoku link, which will initiate the application download procedure. One can also SMS the keyword SUDOKU to 646."

The initial download will come free and will be pre-loaded with a Sudoku puzzle. Upon completing the first puzzle, the user can download a new puzzle through the application itself for Rs.10.

'Su' means 'number' and 'Doku' means 'single'. Sudoku is a number placement puzzle.

Such is its brain-teasing ability that in Britain, a Sudoku book has become a bestseller and newspapers all over the world are busy publishing the puzzles every day.
