Bottleneck: Similac infant formula off the Shelf

Nearly 300,000 bottles of Similac Infant Formula were off the shelf, after its manufacturer, the well-known Ross Products Division, recalled the product// following a suspected flaw in the bottle. No repercussions after the use of this product has been reported yet; however the company has decided to recall the product in order to rectify a mistake on the label regarding the Vitamin C content in the bottle.

Given below is a list of the formulas supplied to United States, Puerto Rico and Guam between May 8 and Sept. 5, which are being recalled. Similac Alimentum Advance liquid formula. Expiration date: May 1, 2007. Printed on the back of the bottle is the following stock code, 57512; and lot number, 401895V. Similac Advance with iron liquid. Expiration date: Nov. 1, 2007, stock code: 55961; and lot numbers: 40177RH and 40172RH. Similac Advance Hospital Discharge Kits. Stock code, 58986; and lot number, 41699DS.

A customer, who noticed an unusually dark color of the formula, brought the defect to the notice of the company. Apparently a key chemical in the bottle was missing, but which is crucial in preventing the break down of Vitamin C. Presently, this anomaly stands corrected, a spokeswoman of the company has confirmed.

The company has assured the Public that it will undertake to replace at no cost all products, which have been declared defective. Customers could access the following number for clarification: 800-624-3412.
