A new study says that Boston ranked the top city in America for having a baby. According to a survey of top 50 U.S. cities conducted by Fit Pregnancy magazine, Boston’s outstanding// healthcare resources is what made the city the best apart from other factors like low birth risks and family recreation. The magazine shared its results of the survey on NBC's Today show on Wednesday.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino, while commenting on the report, said: "We are fortunate to have a robust network of community health centers and hospitals that is second to none." He also added: "We're also lucky to have a Public Health Commission that makes the health of women and their children a top priority."

A preliminary data released by Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) shows that Boston has its lowest rates of maternal and infant mortality.

San Francisco, Minneapolis, Portland, Oregon, and Omaha, Nebraska round out the top five best cities for babies.
