Boots Store Also Extend Its Services to the Hospital Sector

Boots group of stores has planned to put NHS general practioner and hospital consultants in its stores. The group is merging with the Alliance UniChem Private Limited //Company to become Alliance Boots which will be effective on July 31. Few of the Boots stores in London are already providing NHS Chlamydia-testing services. But a lot of opposition has come from the British medical association (BMA) saying that this is a scheming move towards NHS privatization.

A Boots spokeswoman said that the main aim of bringing such services to the sores is to increase the access of NHS services to the public and also this would help boost the chemist chain's pharmacy business. The Department of Health believes that such a move would help cut the long waiting lists.

The Department of Health spokesperson said that it another innovative idea to make GP services easily accessible to the general public and the patients. The Guardian reported that the Prime Minister Tony Blair is also very keen on this new proposal and will visit Nottingham to deliver a speech on healthcare. The boots spokesperson said that this proposal would provide GP services with high quality care in all the boots stores across UK. It would rent its place to the primary health acre trust and make heath care services more accessible.
