Book Seeks To Rehabilitate Soldiers

A new book is offering strategies for the Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans to cope with the community members, employers, and their families. A person undergoes tremendous change after fighting in a battlefield, and // returning to normal civilian life again can be very difficult.

The book is named ‘Courage After Fire’, and it is aimed to be of service to about 1 million war veterans who put in service in Afghanistan and Iraq. Armstrong, one of the coauthors of the book has extensive experience with war veterans who participated in the second world war and in Vietnam. The Ulysses Press has published the book. As many as 25% of the veterans returning from these two battle zones suffer from emotional and psychiatric problems.

Most people experience difficulties in reintegrating with their families after a long separation, and soldiers are not an exception to this rule either. The book offers solutions to problems like employment difficulties, relationship difficulties, grief and depression, phobias, substance abuse, anger, and posttraumatic stress symptoms. The body has to be retrained not to respond to triggers which may have been necessary in the battlefield.
