Blue Light Keeps A Person Alert

Blue light tends to dissuade sleep, and it may be the best remedy for those people who work on night shifts, according to latest research reports. The alertness levels of human // beings can be altered with the color of the light they are working under, according to neuroscientist Steven Lockley belonging to the Brigham & Women's Hospital.

Light contributes towards the wakefulness of a person. The eye’s light receptors work even where blind people are concerned, and this enables a person to differentiate between daytime and night. The subjects studied in the research were placed for a period of 6.5 hours under green and blue lights. The wavelengths of blue colored light are reportedly shorter, and convinces the human brain that it is daytime.

The eye’s visual apparatus is more sensitive where green light is concerned. The study will also contribute towards understanding the central nervous system better. Large doses of blue light may also damage the eyesight.
