Blood glucose level should be maintained lower than recommended levels

Professor William Cefalu, Pennington Biomedical Research Center has reported that maintaining the current recommended blood glucose level does not reduce the risk // of cardiovascular disease. The researcher has asked the physicians to maintain the blood glucose level of their patients less than the recommended levels by aggressive blood glucose monitoring and insulin.

A1c test is used to monitor the average amount of blood glucose over the last few months, the test measures the amount of glycated hemoglobin in the blood. Normal blood glucose level is 6% A1c (135 mg/dL or 7.5 mmol/L) a change of 1% A1c refers to 30mg/dL. The current recommended A1c values for Juvenile diabetes is 8% and 7.5% for children’s between 6 to 12 years and 13 to 19 years respectively. Researches feel that the recommended A1c values should be maintained still low to avoid the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
