Blood Goes Down the Drain in Bihar Hospital

Did you know that blood is the most common fluid connective tissue being transplanted everyday from one person to the other? The demand for blood and its derived products only keeps increasing day by day.

Even though in high demand, donor blood literally went down the drain in a hospital after it was found unusable due to malfunction// in the refrigeration system. About 45 units of blood (one unit comprises 350 ml blood) was discarded by blood bank officials of Sadar Hospital in Begusarai district, Bihar.

This became evident during a routine inspection of hospital records last week by the health authorities. It has been said that those found guilty would be taken into strict action after a detailed report regarding the incident has been obtained.
